Video Editor
A Video Editor is responsible for editing raw footage into high-quality videos for various platforms such as social media, websites, films, or advertisements. They work closely with directors, content creators, and marketing teams to produce engaging visual content.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and organize raw video footage
- Trim, cut, and arrange clips into a cohesive sequence
- Add music, sound effects, voiceovers, and dialogue
- Incorporate graphics, titles, captions, and animations
- Adjust color, lighting, and visual effects for consistency
- Ensure videos meet brand guidelines and project objectives
- Collaborate with team members to understand creative direction
- Revise edits based on feedback and deadlines
- Export videos in appropriate formats for different platforms
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
- Basic knowledge of motion graphics (After Effects is a plus)
- Strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition
- Understanding of video formats, codecs, and resolutions
- Attention to detail and creativity
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Film, Media, Communications, or related field
- Experience with social media video content (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram)
- Knowledge of sound editing and color grading
- Portfolio showcasing previous work
Work Environment
- Can work in studios, offices, or remotely
- May require flexible hours depending on deadlines
- Often project-based or freelance opportunities available
Salary (Typical Range)
- Entry-level: $30,000 – $50,000/year
- Mid-level: $50,000 – $80,000/year
- Senior/Expert: $80,000+ (varies by location and industry)
